Investors remained skeptical, relegating Google to a secondary position, despite a 36% stock increase in 2024. This situation prompted internal alarms, reminiscent of the ‘code red’ triggered by ChatGPT’s launch in 2022.

Advancements in the Gemini Model

Google accelerated its AI capabilities by rolling out updates to its Gemini model throughout 2025. The introduction of Gemini 2.5 in March and subsequent releases like Gemini 3 in November showcased significant improvements in reasoning and performance, bolstering Google’s competitive stance against OpenAI.

Cloud Revenue Surge

The integration of AI services into the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) yielded impressive financial results. In Q3 2025, GCP’s revenue reached $15.1 billion, marking a 34% year-over-year increase. More than 70% of GCP customers now utilize AI services, reflecting a shift in demand towards AI-driven cloud solutions.

In May, Google launched AI Mode for all US users, enhancing search functionalities and integrating ads within AI-generated content. New tools like Project Astra and Veo 3 for video generation are pushing the boundaries of user interaction and creativity, cementing Google’s dominance in the search market.

Hardware and Competitive Strategies

Google’s hardware strategy also advanced with significant deals for its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Partnerships with companies like Anthropic, which plans to deploy up to 1 million processors, and negotiations with Meta for chip supply underscore Google’s integrated AI strategy. This hardware advantage enhances Google’s overall AI stack and user retention.

Looking Ahead: Predictions for 2026

With the successful rollout of Gemini and robust cloud growth, Google is poised for continued market leadership. As AI adoption accelerates, expect Google’s cloud services to capture a larger share of enterprise AI spending. Analysts predict Google will lead the Mag 7 stocks in 2026, driven by its comprehensive AI offerings and expanding user base.
